Special additions Vol.1 Laurie lamps and Francesca Gentilli have teamed up to produce a small batch of unique Tamegroute lamps.
Tamegroute pottery comes from a small town in the south of Morocco and has been produced there since the 11th Century. All the pottery is handmade and fired in stoves using palm tree and eucalyptus branches for fuel.
The secret recipe for the fabulous green glaze has been passed down from generation to generation. Its colour is unique to Tamegroute and can’t be found anywhere else in the world.
Our trip to Morocco
Back in 2019, Francesca and I travel together to Morocco, where we explored the souks of Marrakesh. I was firmly under her wing, with her fluent French and local network of artisans. We explored a few different options for our collaboration from hand crafted metal work to beautiful painted pottery, but decided the one that stood as an iconic symbol of Moroccan craft was definitely the Tamegroute pots.
About Francesca Gentilli
Francesca Gentilli specialises in beautiful vintage and bespoke rugs, textiles and objects. All handmade by artisans from around the world using ancient techniques. Her business was born from a sense of adventure, a love of travel, textiles and antiques, and a constant hunger for finding unusual, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Francesca believes strongly in maintaining a hands-on approach within the business, travelling to India and Morocco annually. She finds beauty in the imperfect and unusual, and hand picks pieces that reflect that whilst also telling the story of the maker. Her style is her lived-in, imperfect, relaxed and artisanal.
